Support your Child's Learning and Prepare for SOLS this Spring

Teachers are ready to shift into high gear and students are ready to buckle down. SOLs are right around the corner, and its time we begin to practice with our children so that they are prepared. How can you help at home? Great question! If you go to the Linkhorn Park Elementary website you can click on "Resources" in the middle of the page. It will take you to many sites that you can used to practice regular skills, but also down at the bottom you will find specific practice sites under "Standards of Learning". Most of those links will take you to the VDOE site. That site provides practice questions and practice tools to interact with for all testing areas and grades. It also will let you know how you can ask questions while working with your child and provide clear objectives for you to help ensure your kids understanding.

Troubleshooting Concerns: Many of you have reported issues while reviewing these valuable sites. Keep in mind that students use these sites at school using Internet Explorer 9 and have been advised to run all prompts we get. Some versions of Internet Explorer and other browsers may not work. Be sure to follow any prompts that may pop up to ensure access by following directions carefully. It may be necessary to update Java versions on personal computers, etc. or even your browsers. Each home is different, so each situation is different. The best way to troubleshoot is to know your own equipment and follow what your computer tells you.
