A Message from Our PTA President May 2008 Dear Linkhorn Lions- As May approaches and the end of the school year draws near, we still have many fun and exciting Linkhorn events to look forward to!! All of our volunteers have been busier than ever knowing our biggest fundraiser of the year- our Linkhorn CARNIVAL and SILENT AUCTION happen May 17th at LPES! BINGO night was a huge success and there were a record number of Linkhorn families who came out to have fun and play some serious BINGO! Some awesome prizes were won and one lucky winner even went home with a Nintendo DS Lite! Great job Kathleen Martin and all those who helped with all the details. LPES Talent Revue is rolling into town, April 25th at VB Middle 6pm. Don’t miss all of our talented Linkhorn Lions! Thank you to Carol Brubaker for organizing this fun event for our students and teachers! She makes it look so easy. The first week in May is National Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful and dedicated group of teachers at LPES. We also have an amazing and talented group of people who support and aid these teachers everyday, such as the office staff, resource staff and custodians. Next time you see your teacher or a staff member, thank them for all they do for our school and our students! The PTA Hospitality committee has a week of fun luncheons and events to honor our awesome staff. Come help us show them how much they are appreciated. We are already beginning to plan for next year and the PTA needs YOU! Please consider serving with the PTA to better our school. We have many committees and events that need your help. Remember the “Give 2” program- if everyone gave at least 2 volunteer hours a week how much we could accomplish!! Our Spring Program and the next general PTA meeting is on May 8th. We will be voting in our new PTA officers for next year and awarding our annual Carol Monger and Shirley Barco scholarships to some deserving students. Thank you for your continued support. Meridith Brady LPES Spring Carnival Saturday, May 17 10:30-3:30pm “Rain or Shine” It’s that time of year again for our annual LPES Carnival! If you are a newcomer to our school you don’t want to miss this. If you’ve been before, then you already know so please spread the word to your friends and families as this is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!! This year we have some new rides and some old favorites that will make this event bigger and better than before! We will have advance ticket sales at a reduced price and a notice will go home giving you the info on how to order. Take advantage and save a few bucks! The main attraction to our carnival is our Silent Auction. It is without a doubt one of the best! We have so many wonderful donors and businesses in our community that support our school. Thank you to all of you who have supported us. Mark your calendars and work around soccer schedules because this is going to be one big, FUN day!! Contact Keving Foster for more information at 434-1268 * CAMPBELL'S LABELS FOR EDUCATION Thank you for all of your support. The last count was over five thousand UPC's! With these UPC's, Mrs. Simmelink selected some nice PE equipment from Campbell's for the children. She selected softball throw down bases, Speed Stacks with a DVD, and even a tug-of-war rope. BOX TOPS

Once again Linkhorn will be participating in the Box Tops 4 Education program. It is a simple and fun way to earn money for our school. All you need to do is: 1. Clip the Box Top logo from participating products (General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Ziplock etc.) 2. Send the Box Top to school with your child. Our school earns 10 cents for each Box Top collected. Last year we collected almost 20,000 Box Tops---that's $2,000 !!!! There are class contests and prizes for the most Box Tops collected. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Linkhorn Park parents, grandparents and friends are all welcome to join in the exciting activities for the 2007-2008 school year. Getting involved is a great way to enhance your child’s educational experience at Linkhorn Park…and the whole school also benefits. Many volunteer opportunities take place in the school, while others can be done at home. Consider volunteering for one or more that meet your interests and time availability.
